LENS Neurofeedback: Fine-Tuning Your Brain Waves

Your Brain Waves
Brain Waves

Imagine your brain's electrical activity as a symphony orchestra, with each instrument playing a vital role in creating beautiful, harmonious music. However, sometimes an instrument might be out of tune, causing dissonance in your brain's performance. That's where LENS Neurofeedback comes in.

LENS, or Low Energy Neurofeedback System, is a cutting-edge technology developed in the early 1990's and is designed to fine-tune your brain's electrical activity. By gently stimulating your brain waves with low-energy pulses, LENS Neurofeedback helps restore balance and harmony to your brain's frequencies, promoting optimal brain function and improving a wide range of cognitive issues received from traumatic brain injury, drug addiction (along with other outside therapies), learning disabilities, adhd symptoms, seizure disorder, and other mental health issues.

Delta waves, Theta waves, Alpha waves, and Beta Waves

All types of neurofeedback are looking at the brain activity through its brain waves measuring the frequencies in delta waves, alpha waves, theta waves, and beta waves. The slower brain wave activity shows up in delta waves which are attributed to deep sleep. Theta waves are attributed to more or less sleep and the unconscious state where we can dream, meditate, and so forth. Alpha waves are attributed to being awake but not engaged and one can day dream in this state. Beta waves are attributed to the brain activity working at a high level and getting things done but at the highest level our brains can be in fight, flight, or freeze mode.

Neurofeedback Therapy

During neurofeedback therapy, our Brain Health Specialist will administer LENS Neurofeedback by applying an electrode to each ear via an ear clip and placing another electrode to one of the twenty-one functional areas on the scalp. We are measuring the client's brain waves and then placing this information over the functional areas. When we see a difference in the slower brain waves and faster brain waves, we can then see some of the inefficiencies in brain activity.

Inefficiencies in certain brain waves can lead to dysfunction

These inefficiencies can manifest in many mental health issues. Many mental health disorders can present as post traumatic stress disorder, sleep disorders, anxiety disorders, brain injuries, mental performance, learning disabilities, mental clarity, and much more.

Other forms of EEG Neurofeedback can help clients but the number of sessions required to accomplish the client's goals well exceed the 12 sessions we request with LENS Neurofeedback. LENS Neurofeedback also does not require a quantitative eeg as it has its own mapping system.

LENS Neurofeedback works well with other types of mental health services

Mental health issues need to be approached from many different angles and we have found that LENS Neurofeedback is a powerful tool in alleviating many mental health issues that traditional talk therapy just can't address. Neurofeedback helps calm the central nervous system when it gets stuck in slower brain waves or higher beta brain waves. Many more breakthroughs can be accomplished with talk therapy when neurofeedback treatment is administered along with talk therapy.

How many neurofeedback sessions?

LENS Neurofeedback is advantageous because it only needs 12 weekly sessions and does not require active participation compared to traditional neurofeedback. Traditional neurofeedback involves attending an office for 40-50 sessions several times a week. While traditional neurofeedback involves neurofeedback training, LENS Neurofeedback disrupts the patterns in the brain waves. Both systems are looking at the patient's brain waves but the neurofeedback therapy session is different.

Brain Supplements and Activators: Boosting Your Brain's Natural Power

Eat good Brain Food
Brain Food

Did you know that the foods you eat and the supplements you take can have a significant impact on your brain's well-being and your mental health just like your body needs the right nutrients to thrive, so does your brain. Our Brain Health Specialists understand the crucial role nutrition plays in maintaining a healthy brain and can recommend the best supplements and activators to help you perform at your peak.

Are you ready to harmonize your brain? To do so, it's crucial to nourish your brain with the right nutrients. A balanced brain diet is a key factor in optimal brain performance, but often we need additional supplementation. At Harmonized Brain Centers, our brain supplementation is rooted in nutrigenomics—a relatively new field that leverages natural products to effect change at a cellular and DNA level, addressing the root cause of many health issues.

Nutrigenomics - Helping your brain activity

Nutrigenomics is the study of how food and its constituents affect gene expression and how genetic variations impact the nutritional environment. It delves into the interaction between nutrients and the genome at a molecular level, providing insights into how specific nutrients or dietary routines can influence human health. By working at a cellular and DNA level, nutrigenomics can help harmonize your brain and address various physical and mental ailments. Incorporating these brain supplements/activators into our practice has resulted in our clients recovering faster.

Protandim
Protandim

This burgeoning scientific field is continually yielding new research findings. Essentially, science has figured out how to 'flip the switches' at a cellular level using natural ingredients. For instance, in 1994, the NRF2 protein pathway was discovered that triggers the production of antioxidants. Similarly, NRF1 activates our mitochondria—the energy-producing part of our cells—and NAD, a molecule present in every cell, powers metabolism by enabling mitochondria to convert food into energy necessary for all bodily functions. NAD also significantly enhances the effects of both NRF1 and NRF2. By taking these supplements especially if brain injuries are involved will help in the recovery time.

From just 17 peer-reviewed studies on NRF2 in 1998, there have been over 13,595 studies as of 2019. This surge in research is reshaping our understanding of mental health conditions and physical health and how our cells can generate what they need without succumbing to the adverse effects of time and toxicity. LifeVantage is a pioneer in providing products that activate your DNA, which is why we endorse LifeVantage products at Harmonized Brain Centers. We've observed that incorporating these products into our practice accelerates our clients' recovery from mental health conditions to physical issues as well.

Supplementation vs Activation

There's a significant difference between merely supplementing with a product and activating your DNA to achieve the desired outcome. Take oxidative stress, for example, which is an imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants in our cells. Overproduction of free radicals can cause oxidative damage to biomolecules (lipids, proteins, DNA), leading to various chronic diseases.

While it's well known that antioxidants are beneficial because they combat the effects of free radicals, our ability to fight off these effects diminishes with age and exposure to toxins. Consuming antioxidant-rich foods like blueberries can only provide a limited amount of antioxidants, and the benefits cease when we stop eating them. In contrast, taking a product like Protandim NRF2 activates your DNA at the cellular level, prompting your cells to produce their own antioxidants at a million-to-one ratio.

We've found that our clients who regularly use Protandim products recover faster—a win-win situation for everyone.

Think of these brain supplements and activators as the fuel your brain needs to function optimally. They provide essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that support your brain's natural processes, ensuring you're firing on all cylinders.

Physical Vascular Therapy: Enhancing Blood Flow for a Healthier Brain

Have you ever considered how important blood flow is for your brain's health? Your brain relies on a constant supply of oxygen and nutrients to function properly, and that's where Physical Vascular Therapy comes in. It actually increases your cerebral blood flow and the blood flow in your entire body by 30% in just an eight-minute session.

Using state-of-the-art technology, our Brain Health Specialists can help enhance your brain's blood flow, ensuring that your brain receives the oxygen and nutrients it needs to thrive. By improving microcirculation, Physical Vascular Therapy can help alleviate a variety of cognitive issues and promote overall brain health.

Low-Level Light Therapy: Illuminating Your Brain's Potential

Did you know that light can have a powerful impact on your brain's health? Low-Level Light Therapy, also known as photobiomodulation, uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate your brain's cells, promoting healing, improving cognitive function, and increasing cerebral blood flow all the while reducing inflammation.

The Science Behind Low Level Light Therapy

LLLT utilizes specific frequencies of light, ranging from 630 nanometers (nm) to 1,200 nm, which are part of the visible light spectrum. This therapy has been extensively studied, with over 3,000 peer-reviewed studies supporting its effectiveness and safety. The most commonly used frequency for brain-related applications is 850 nm, which has shown remarkable results in various studies.

So, how does LLLT work at the cellular level? The primary target of LLLT is cytochrome c oxidase, a crucial enzyme involved in cellular respiration. By stimulating this enzyme, LLLT increases cellular energy production and promotes overall cellular health. Additionally, LLLT influences photoactive porphyrins, which play a vital role in various biological processes.

By harnessing the power of light, our Brain Health Specialists can help your brain reach its full potential, improving memory, focus, and overall cognitive functioning. It's truly a bright idea for better brain health!
